Small business accounting in Woodside, Queens

A monthly close, a set of statements you can actually read, and a CPA who knows your business well enough to tell you what changed and why — without the cost of a full-time controller.

✓ Monthly or quarterly close✓ Statements you can read✓ A named accountant, not a queue

Most small businesses do not need a finance department. They need three things: books that close every month, numbers that mean something when they look at them, and somebody to call before a decision rather than after it. That is what this service is.

The reporting pack is deliberately short. A profit and loss with the prior year and the budget beside it, a balance sheet, a cash summary, and a page of plain English about what moved. Nobody has ever made a better decision because their management accounts ran to forty pages.

What a month looks like

Everything below happens on a schedule, not when somebody remembers. You know which day your numbers arrive.

Bank and card reconciliation

Every account, to the statement, every month. Unreconciled books are not books.

Accounts payable and receivable review

What you owe, what you are owed, and how old it is — the report most owners find they were missing.

Payroll and sales tax tie-out

The filings agreed to the ledger, so nothing surfaces as a surprise at year end.

Month-end journals

Depreciation, accruals, prepayments, owner draws coded correctly rather than dumped into a suspense account.

The reporting pack

P&L against prior year and budget, balance sheet, cash summary, and a written page on what changed.

A standing call

Monthly or quarterly, with the CPA who reviews your file. Not a support ticket.

Where it pays for itself

Nobody buys accounting because they enjoy it. These are the things clients tell us it actually bought them.

No January panic

The tax return is a formality when the books closed twelve times already.

Pricing you can defend

Gross margin by line of business, when you have more than one, is usually the number that changes behavior.

A bank that says yes

Lenders and landlords ask for statements. Statements a CPA prepared get read differently.

Fraud you catch early

Segregation of duties is a luxury at five employees. An outside reconciliation is the affordable substitute.

Tax decisions made in time

An equipment purchase, an entity election or a retirement plan contribution has to happen before December 31 to help you.

Monthly packages

Monthly fee, agreed in writing, adjusted only when volume genuinely changes. Tax returns quoted separately.

Questions

Small Business Accounting — the questions we are asked most

Do I need this if I already have a bookkeeper?

Often not — and we will say so. Where it helps is review: a bookkeeper records, a CPA checks the recording and interprets the result. Some clients keep their bookkeeper and buy only the monthly review and the reporting pack.

What accounting software do you work in?

QuickBooks Online for most clients, QuickBooks Desktop and Xero where that is what you already run. We do not force a migration unless it saves you money.

How do you get our paperwork?

A secure client portal, or a shared folder, or a shoebox dropped at the office on Roosevelt Avenue. We have clients doing all three.

Will the same person handle my account every month?

Yes. You get a named accountant and a named reviewing CPA, and you will meet both.
